Mansell has been a Jersey resident since 1997 and, according to the paper, he is regarded as a 'reclusive figure' since moving to the island.
According to the report, five youths broke through the security fencing at Mansell's property and were met by Mansell, who has served his time as a police special constable and is a black belt in karate, demanding to know what they were doing. Blows ensued and the police were called.
The Jersey police confirmed that five men had been arrested on Friday on suspicion of minor public order offences and malicious damage.
A spokesman for Mansell confirmed to the Telegraph: "I can confirm that there was an incident at Mr Mansell's property which is being investigated by the police, who have indicated that they intend to take matters further."
