Jerez test - day two: 18 June.

Renault F1 joined McLaren-Mercedes, BMW WilliamsF1 and Toyota at Jerez today [Wednesday], and Fernando Alonso promptly put the French team at the top of the times, his best a 1 minute 20.425 seconds.

The Spaniard notched up 103 laps in total, while working on tyre evaluation and mechanical set-up for the upcoming Grand's Prix, and 2004 development items. Alonso was around two tenths up on Toyota's Cristiano da Matta, while yesterday's pace setter, Kimi Raikkonen was third.

The Finn completed just 21 laps, and was nearly a second off the time he set on Tuesday, a 1m 19.718s. David Coulthard was also on track for the Woking based concern, the Scot completing 80 laps, around half a second slower than his team-mate.

BMW WilliamsF1 test driver, Marc Gene was the only other driver in action, the Spaniard fourth quickest overall on a 1m 21.157s.

Testing continues tomorrow [Thursday].
