Minardi 1-2 in Friday qualifying!

A second successive Friday qualifying session hit by mixed weather conditions allowed the championship tailenders a rare moment in the sun, as Minardi duo Jos Verstappen and Justin Wilson ended the first day of the French Grand Prix at the head of the field.

Running last on the road, Verstappen and Wilson took full advantage of a drying track and warming temperatures to obliterate the previous best time set by Jordan's Ralph Firman, as the regular frontrunners endured wet conditions and will start at the 'wrong' end of Saturday's grid setting session.
