Red Bull, Star Wars to join Forces for Monaco.

Red Bull Racing is to team up with the Star Wars franchise for a major cross-promotion to help push the new Revenge of the Sith movie at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Although plans are still secret, stars of the movie are expected to be at the track, and the drivers are rumoured to be getting special stormtrooper-themed overalls.

Although plans are still secret, stars of the movie are expected to be at the track, and the drivers are rumoured to be getting special stormtrooper-themed overalls.

Director George Lucas is known to be a racing enthusiast - indeed, one of his first jobs involved assisting with some US location shooting for John Frankenheimer's legendary Grand Prix movie - and attended last year's Bahrain GP as a guest of Jaguar Racing and Jackie Stewart. The American, who has dabbled in track action of his own, is also said to have seriously considered buying into an F1 team.

Last year, Jaguar Racing - the team from which Red Bull Racing was born in 2005 - linked up with the Ocean's Twelve movie at Monaco, a collaboration which resulted in a brief - and somewhat shambolic - visit to the pits by stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

The team had an awful weekend on the track too, with Christian Klien bouncing off the barriers - and supposedly losing a precious gem embedded in the R5's nose by another sponsor, Steinmetz - and Mark Webber struggling to get his engine to run for more than a few laps.

Perhaps the Red Bull 'empire' will strike back this time around...
