Klien: It was a big one.

Christian Klien says he had no warning at all when his Red Bull turned sharp left into the wall under braking, putting him out of the Australian GP.

Klien had been involved in a tangle at the start with Felipe Massa and Nico Rosberg, and at first glance it seemed likely that the later incident was precipitated by the first.

"I don't know what happened," he told Crash.net. "I got two hits at the start, but I presumed it was tyres. I really struggled to warm up the tyres the whole weekend, and especially after the safety car. I went on the brakes and it suddenly went left into the wall.

"It felt really strange, and I couldn't do anything. It was quite a big one, I was always on the brakes and the car was jumping and bouncing. I went straight into the wall in front of me. It was a very long way - maybe 300m or so, and I was still quite quick when I hit the wall."

"It was really frustrating. I was on a one-stop and I was easily in the points. But we had this problem with the warm-up of the tyres all weekend. Shit happens, next time we have to do a lot better."

After the race team boss Christian Horner suggested that bodywork rather than suspension damage was the most likely cause.

"He had some bodywork damage that caused him to lose downforce on the rear of the car, and that certainly didn't help under braking when he lost the car. It was the sidepod and the side of the floor."
