The Panasonic Toyota Racing team will launch its 2007 Formula One car, the TF107 today [Friday], when the car is unveiled in Cologne, Germany.

The launch is just part of the ceremony, which is also taking place to mark 50 years of Toyota in motorsport in general. Proceedings are due to get underway at around 11.00 hours local time, and are due to last for around 1 hour.

As well as the unveiling of the new TF107, top management from Toyota Motor Corporation and Panasonic Toyota Racing will be joined by race drivers Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli and third driver Franck Montagny on stage to discuss the 2007 season.

Toyota endured a difficult season in 2006, and after finishing fourth in the manufacturers' championship in 2005, just 12 points behind Ferrari, last year the Cologne-based operation slumped to sixth spot, with just 35 points - less than half that managed in '05 [88 points].

As such a lot is riding on the TF107 - and it is clear the team will be hoping for better in 2007 and possibly that elusive first F1 grand prix win.
