Ricciardo yet to discuss 2019 F1 plans with Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo is yet to begin discussing plans for the 2019 season beyond the end of his existing Red Bull Formula 1 contract as speculation begins to circulate about his future.

Ricciardo is out of contract with Red Bull at the end of the 2018 season, and has been linked with a move away amid suggestions of a possible tie-up for the team with struggling F1 engine manufacturer Honda.

With all drivers except Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel free agents for 2019, a number of moves are expected, with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko already saying Ricciardo is on the market.

"The only thing I'm aware of is that my contract with them is at an end next year. I guess he's referencing that," Ricciardo said.

"Nothing's been said between us beyond next [year], so I guess he's more stating facts.

"I don't think he has a plan yet beyond 2018. He wasn't too disappointed after Malaysia. I think he was OK, so I think I'm still OK."

Red Bull has made great progress through campaigns in recent years, albeit after starting off on the back foot, with Ricciardo hoping that trend stops for 2018.

"I still don't know why the last few years we've had slow starts and then found a way to come back," Ricciardo said.

"What we learn hopefully from this year we take to next year and we start stronger. That's obviously the plan, that's everyone's wish. I guess we do from there.

"If next year's not a very competitive season at all then, of course, that will be addressed."
