Monchaux's appointment is the latest for Sauber as part of its significant recruitment drive following its takeover by Longbow Finance in 2016, with the arrival of Alfa Romeo as a new partner acting as a further boost heading into the 2018 season.
Monchaux has spent the last five years working with Audi Sport as its head of vehicle engineering and aerodynamics, playing a role in its LMP1 and Formula E programmes, and has previous experience with Toyota and Ferrari.
“I’m very much looking forward to the arrival of Jan Monchaux as the new Head of Aerodynamics," Zander said. "It marks an important step of a wider project that aims at strengthening and implementing the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team in line with the targets and the results we want to achieve on tracks."
Monchaux is set to first appear with Sauber at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix.
