Zander leaves Sauber F1 team amid technical reshuffle
Alfa Romeo Sauber’s technical director Jorg Zander has left the Formula 1 team with immediate effect, it has been announced.
Zander only joined Sauber ahead of the 2017 season having left his role as Audi’s technical director following the manufacturer’s withdrawal from the World Endurance Championship.
The 53-year-old had previously worked at the Swiss based squad as chief designer for the BMW Sauber team between 2006 and 2007.

It follows Sauber’s recent collaboration with Alfa Romeo, with the Italian marque becoming Sauber’s title sponsor for 2018, while the team was also boosted by the arrival as Frederic Vasseur as team principal.
In a statement Sauber said until a new organisation is announced that “department heads and current project leaders” will continue to oversee the development of the C37, as well as the team’s 2019 car under the supervision of Vasseur.
