Kimi Raikkonen claimed his first F1 race win in over five years with victory at the Circuit of the Americas which hosted an action-packed race that saw the drivers’ world title go up for grabs between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.
The race saw the F1 title fight swing entirely when Vettel tangled with Daniel Ricciardo on the opening lap, effectively putting Hamilton in prime position to wrap up his fifth F1 world crown in the US, before the Mercedes driver slipped to third place and the Ferrari driver fought back to fourth to keep his title fight alive until the following round in Mexico.
With Raikkonen taking a popular win, Max Verstappen held off Hamilton to take second place for Red Bull to see all three of the top F1 teams on the rostrum, while further back Lance Stroll tangled with Fernando Alonso on the first lap to send the two-time F1 world champion out of the race early.
According to formula1.com, over 16,000 votes were cast which saw the United States Grand Prix top the results with 30% to comfortably beat the Azerbaijan race which gathered 13% of the total vote.
The British Grand Prix narrowly grabbed third place with 9% ahead of the German Grand Prix (8%), while the Austrian Grand Prix rounded out the top five on 6%.
