Williams has secured a title sponsor partnership extension of “three to five years” with ROKiT ahead of the British Grand Prix.
Despite a tough start to the 2019 Formula 1 world championship with new title sponsors ROKiT, having missed the opening two days of pre-season testing, Williams has announced a deal extension with the telecommunications company which could run to the end of the 2024.
The team confirmed the extension will last between three and five years following the initial success of the new partnership over the opening half of this season. ROKiT replaced Martini as Williams title sponsor at the start of 2019.
While the British team has struggled with performance this year, with its best result being 15th place achieved on three separate occasions, deputy team principal Claire Williams underlined the title sponsorship deal was secured “at a challenging time” and is hopeful of steering the squad through its rough patch.
“We are delighted to announce this extension to our partnership with ROKiT,” Williams said. “As I said in February, this is a natural partnership based on shared values of innovation, engineering excellence and trust.
“ROKiT joined the team at a challenging time and it means a great deal to us that they believe in our vision and are committed to helping us achieve it.
“I’ve personally enjoyed working with the team at ROKiT and look forward to continuing this work in the years ahead.”
“Our relationship with the Williams supports our position as a global player in the mobile phone industry, entertainment and drinks business,” Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROKiT, said.
“We have exciting plans to produce exclusive ROKiT Williams Racing content for our ROKiT phones, as well as strong distribution for ABK and Bogarts. I am also committed to helping the team get back onto the podium, where they should be.”
Williams remain bottom of the F1 world constructors’ championship having failed to score a point over the opening nine rounds.
The British team officially axed Paddy Lowe as technical head last month after he was given a leave of absence on the even of the F1 season.
