Off The Grid F1 Chat Show – Will Fernando Alonso sink or swim?
The 2020 F1 season is finally underway but while all the great and good were stationed in Austria for the first of two events this week, it was a figure not even in the paddock this week that snatched the headlines.
After what will be two years out of the F1 limelight, Fernando Alonso returns to the 2021 F1 grid with the Renault team as he looks to recreate the former glories that saw him clinch two world titles with the French firm back in 2005 and 2006.
As such, we couldn’t think of a better time than right now to launch Crash.net’s brand-new F1 chat show ‘Off The Grid’, our new series discussing biggest discussion points of the 2020 F1 season with the people in the know.
This week joining me – Ollie Barstow – we have Julianne Cerasoli, one of Brazil’s foremost F1 TV, radio and web journalists, plus Leigh O’Gorman, commentator and journalist with The Motorsport Archive.
We delve into Alonso’s shock return to the sport with Renault, analysing whether this part of a grander plan to go for Cyril Abiteboul’s team principal job or whether he feels he can still challenge for wins and podiums once again.
