“Some people are worthless!” – Gasly on burgled home
Pierre Gasly has revealed his home was burgled and ransacked while he was competing in the Spanish Grand Prix and has appealed over social media for information to have the items recovered.
The Frenchman has been in action for the AlphaTauri team for the past three weeks at Silverstone and then to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya over the weekend only to return home and find it has been broken into.
Posting on his social media, he reveals a number of items including engraved watches, racing helmets, clothes and jewellery had been stolen from him in the raid, adding that his home had been ‘trashed’ in the process too.
Saying ‘some people are really worthless, disrespectful and contemptible’, he has appealed for anyone with information to contact him directly with information to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I had my house broken into and ransacked in Normandy, stealing various BRM watches in my name, Tag Heuer, jewellery, clothing, glasses, racing helmets - please contact me if you have / see or hear any info,” he wrote on Twitter.
It’s an unhappy outcome for a driver that enjoyed a strong weekend in Spain, landing a ninth place finish for the AlphaTauri team.
To date Gasly has had a solid showing with three points’ finishes, including seventh place results in the Austrian and British Grands Prix, the 14 points placing him 13th in the overall standings, comfortably clear of team-mate Daniil Kvyat on two points.
AlphaTauri, meanwhile, are placed seventh in the constructors’ standings, 20 points shy of Renault in sixth position.
