Perez not talking to other F1 teams amid Vettel rumours
Sergio Perez has confirmed he's not talking to other Formula 1 teams as he expects to remain with Racing Point for the 2021 season.
Perez’s future remains uncertain with Sebastian Vettel being heavily linked with a move to Racing Point next year, when the team is rebranded as Aston Martin.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Perez reaffirmed his confidence in Racing Point and he's sure he will be remaining with the Silverstone-based outfit for an eighth consecutive season.
"I think it’s, as I’ve said before, a matter of time, Perez said. "What I’ve said in Spain that I felt really, really happy in the team, I really believe in the project. I’ve been here for a while. And I’ve seen how the team is going upwards. We all feel internally that everything is working well.
"So we don’t see the reason why we should change anything. I don’t see any reason to change. We’re enjoying a great season on track and things are working really well in the team. I don’t expect any change."
Perez dismissed suggestions that he has held talks with other teams after rumours the Mexican was interested in a switch to Alfa Romeo should he be replaced by Vettel.
"No. The feedback that I get from the team is that we all want to continue."
Perez also confirmed there have been "discussions in the background" regarding his future and he thinks that it's a "matter of time" before his future is confirmed
"There are some discussions in the background," Perez added. "As I’ve said before it’s just a matter of time. All the feedback that I get it’s really positive. So I stay with that. That’s where my confidence comes from and as I said before, it’s out of my hands so I don’t even bother at all.
"I focus on racing, enjoy and then whatever happens it’s out of my hands."
