WATCH: Aston Martin's first F1 car in 60 years makes track debut
Watch footage from Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll's first outing in the all-new Aston Martin 2021 Formula 1 car at a filming day at Silverstone on Thursday.
Following the team's launch on Wednesday, drivers Vettel and Stroll shared driving duties as the Aston Martin AMR21 hit the track for the first time.
As permitted by the F1 regulations, teams are allowed to complete 100km of running on Pirelli demonstration tyres.
The shakedown appeared to go smoothly as an Aston Martin F1 car took to the track for the first time in over 60 years.
Track conditions were wet at Silverstone but it didn't stop Vettel from making his debut in Aston Martin’s iconic ‘British Racing Green’ colours as he looks to re-find his form after a disappointing 2021 campaign.
The Silverstone-based outfit finished fourth in the constructors' championship in 2020 and will be hoping to go one better this year having missed out on third at the final race to McLaren.
The drivers will be given an extended run out in the new AMR21 when pre-season testing gets underway next Friday in Bahrain.
Aston Martin is the latest F1 team to run its new car on track, following McLaren, Red Bull, AlphaTauri, Williams, Alfa Romeo and Alpine in carrying out similar shakedown events over the past fortnight.
Mercedes, Ferrari and Haas’ are not expected to give their 2021 challengers a shakedown and are instead expected to make their track debuts in Bahrain.
