Formula 1 confirms release date for new season of Netflix’s Drive to Survive
Based on the events of the 2022 F1 season, the 10-episode series will be released one week before the season-opener in Bahrain.
Drive to Survive made its debut in 2018, offering fans an exclusive insight into the world of F1.
Initially, Mercedes and Ferrari opted out of being involved in the series, giving the limelight to the likes of Haas, particularly team boss Guenther Steiner.
Memorable moments include former Renault/Alpine boss Cyril Abiteboul winding up Christian Horner about losing Daniel Ricciardo to the Enstone outfit, as well as having no engine for 2018 or Valtteri Bottas' revealing trip to a Finnish sauna.
In more recent years, all teams have been involved with the series being credited as one of the big reasons for F1’s rise in popularity in the United States.
2021 was a thrilling season for the sport with the title battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen going down to the final lap in Abu Dhabi.
While the title battle dominated the headlines, Verstappen’s own inclusion in the series is unclear given that the current world champion expressed his disapproval of Netflix’s editing style and how it creates false narratives.
F1 revealed that the new series will ‘Once again take fans behind the scenes, to witness first-hand how the drivers and teams prepare to battle it out for victory in one of the sport’s most dramatic seasons to date. Get ready to delve into fierce team rivalries, unexpected podiums, and the intense title battle between Mercedes and Red Bull as the pressure reaches an all-time high both on and off the grid.'
