F2, F3 confirm single pre-season Bahrain test

FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 will each complete just three days of pre-season running before the start of the 2020 campaign in Bahrain at the end of March.

In updates issue to both series' websites at the start of the new year, it was confirmed that they would be holding a joint pre-season test at the Bahrain International Circuit ahead of their opening rounds at the same track.

F2 drivers and teams will get the first chance to sample the new-for-2020 18-inch Pirelli tyres - acting as a first step towards Formula 1 making the same change for 2021 - during the three-day test, starting on March 1 and coming to a close on March 3.

F3 will also complete running in Bahrain over the same three-day period, making use of the floodlights at the track to allow for separate sessions to take place each day.

Both championships will stage their first race in Bahrain on March 21 in support of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

F2 will then conduct another three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona in Spain from April 7 to 9, marking the final test running of the year for the series ahead of its second round at Zandvoort on May 2-3.

F3's next test will follow at the Hungaroring on April 14-15, with a third and final test scheduled to take place in Barcelona on May 28-29.
