EURO: Leclerc on top again in final F3 test
Charles Leclerc has once again finished on top of the pre-season timesheets in the Formula 3 European Championship at the final test at Silverstone.
The Monegasque notched up a quickest lap of 1m 50.574s in his Van Amersfoort Racing Dallara-Volkswagen around the Silverstone circuit in the morning session. Leclerc is set to make his F3 debut this weekend at the 2015 season opener at the Northamptonshire track after finishing runner-up in the Formula Renault ALPS series last year.
Carlin pair Antonio Giovinazzi and George Russell finished four-tenths behind Leclerc and a stretch ahead of the rest of the field.
After a quick morning session in the warmer conditions the majority of the 36-car field set their fastest times. Carlin driver Callum Ilott completed the team's 2-3-4 in a repeat of the pre-season test last month in Valencia.
Prema Powerteam's Felix Rosenqvist rounded out the top five as the highest Mercedes-powered driver. Newcomer Raoul Hyman jumped up the order in the afternoon to finish sixth on the combined times, followed by Markus Pommer, Marvin Kirchhofer, Michele Beretta and Lance Stroll.
Kirchhofer tested his EuroInternational car but will not race this weekend as his GP3 commitments will take priority, as this week's GP3 Valencia test clashes with free practice and qualifying at Silverstone.
