Albon fights off Prema Powerteam quartet for Portimao pole

Alexander Albon has notched up his third pole position of the season in the FIA European Formula 3 championship at Portimao, after fending off Felix Rosenqvist at the head of the Prema Powerteam train.
Prema Powerteam had stormed to a 1-2-3 in qualifying one with Jake Dennis grabbing pole but Signature's Albon got the better of the Prema quartet after becoming the sole driver to break the 1m 42s barrier.
The British-Thai driver will be joined by Rosenqvist on the front row as Prema took a 2-3-4-5 with Nick Cassidy heading row two ahead of Lance Stroll with Jake Dennis rounding out the top five.
Euro F3 championship leader Antonio Giovinazzi recovered from a difficult start to the race weekend to grab sixth on the grid for race two ahead of Jagonya Ayam with Carlin team-mate Gustavo Menezes in seventh.
British driver George Russell grabbed eighth on the grid as Dorian Boccolacci and Pietro Fittipaldi completed the top ten.
