Sunday evening saw Promatecme's French driver Bruce Jouanny claiming a new flight record at Rockingham Motor Speedway, following a controversial Formula Three debut at the new circuit.
Nursing a headache, the amicable Frenchman was comparing the amount of ground he covered with all four wheels of his Promatecme Dallara-Mugen off the floor, as a result of taking off over the kerbs at the first corner chicane.
"I came down off the banking in to the chicane at about 230kph and, when I hit the second kerb, I just took off and landed 60 metres further down the track, banging my head on the steering wheel," Jouanny explained, "I think the banking is awesome to drive and the rest of the circuit is incredible - however, my only concern is that the chicane is too dangerous."
Replays of the onboard camera clearly backed up his concerns.
