Hitech Racing will be looking to take the challenge to Raikkonen Robertson Racing and Carlin during 2007 after confirming that Marko Asmer and Walter Grubmuller will spearhead its British F3 campaign.
Asmer secured five podium finishes while driving for the team during 2005 and returned to David Hayle's squad in Macau last season where he finished 13th in the annual end of year grand prix event. Grubmuller meanwhile tested for the team back in October and will be entering his first full season of Formula Three racing after making his debut in Asian F3 towards the end of last year. The 18-year-old also took a fine third place finish during the recent Australian F3 meeting at Eastern Creek and will now debut in the British series when the season kicks off at Oulton Park in April.
"I have worked very hard during the winter to try to secure a strong position for the team," team boss Hayle explained. "We have a very experienced and very determined team of people who are hungry for success; Macau 2006 was a perfect example of our capabilities.
"I truly believe we now have the drivers who can give us the results, obviously Marko is going to be very strong, I'm sure he will be a lot of peoples favourite, however winning is never that easy in British F3. Walter is an F3 rookie and has a very big learning curve but having Marko to learn from will hopefully propel him to the front as soon as possible.
"We have a two year programme with Walter and whilst the Championship is his aim in 2008, we must try to get results with him in his learning year."
