Carlin will enter a new era in 2007 with the announcement that it has establishment an associate company, Carlin Advanced Technologies Limited, to be based at the team's Chessington facility.

Carlin Advanced Technologies is a new division which will continue the tradition of technological development at the Chessington factory, started by the Brabham F1 team and maintained by Yamaha and Activa. The first project undertaken by Carlin Advanced Technologies was the in-house development of a Formula Three Dallara aero model, for use in the on-site 3:1 scale wind tunnel.

Carlin technical director David Brown produced detailed drawings and designs to guide long-term Chessington personnel John Mansfield and Dave Hands in the construction of the replica model. Mansfield and Hands manage the wind tunnel programme and are undertaking advanced tests and analysis, with the ambition to refine the Dallara product for British F3 circuits.

"This is an exciting development for the team and emphasises our ambition to constantly improve," team principal Trevor Carlin said. "The new facilities at Chessington will allow us to get a better understanding of our F3 car and design our own components. Dallara do a fantastic job, our aim is simply to hone certain areas, where regulations allow, which may give us an edge on track."

Both the F3 model and wind tunnel facilities are available for rent on a closed, exclusive basis. Full composite manufacturing services are also available on site.
