Red Bull junior driver Vips made a good start from pole, but spent the early part of the race coming under intense pressure from Daruvala behind, who passed teammate Marcus Armstrong on the run to Turn 1.
Daruvala went side-by-side with Vips nearing half-distance at Silverstone on the run into Brooklands, only to run wide and allow Armstrong to close before hopes of a three-driver fight at the front were dashed by a Safety Car period after a crash for Raoul Hyman.
Vips managed to keep Daruvala at bay through the final five-lap sprint to the flag once the race returned to green to score his second win of the year following his success in Austria two weeks ago.
Daruvala held on for second place ahead of Armstrong, moving into the lead of the drivers' championship in the process after also picking up the two bonus points for the fastest lap. Prema teammate Robert Shwartzman dropped to P2 in the standings after only finishing the race fifth.
MP Motorsport's Liam Lawson will start from reverse grid pole on Sunday after finishing eighth today.
