Daniel Juncadella and Raffaele Marciello will drive for HWA Racelab at the Formula E rookie test in Marrakesh.
The test takes place the day after the second round of the 2018/19 Formula E season on January 13 and is used specifically to bed in rookies to the all-electric series with the new Gen2 cars.
Test and development driver Juncadella will get his second on-track experience in the HWA having completed laps for the team at the Valencia pre-season test, while Marciello will make his Formula E debut next week in the test.
Marciello, who has strong association with the Mercedes-backed HWA squad, clinched the Blancpain GT Series title in 2018 driving for Mercedes and has duly been rewarded with the Formula E test opportunity.
“This will be my first outing in a Formula E car and I will also be driving for HWA Racelab for the first time,” Marciello said. “I am really looking forward to it. I will try to help the team as much as possible and to learn as much as I can during the test. I can hardly wait to get in the car.”
“My focus is on supporting the team as well as possible,” Juncadella added. “We must all continue to learn how the new Formula E car behaves. Personally, I would like to get as many kilometres under my belt as possible, with an eye on next season's events, when my goal is to be involved in the races myself.”
The pair will takeover from the teams’ two race drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Gary Paffett who will contest the Marrakesh ePrix on January 12 at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan.
