Hodencq signs for GP, tests next week.
Young Belgian star Maxime Hodencq has signed on to contest the 2004 Superfund Euro F3000 Championship with GP Racing, despite being just 17 years of age.
While many drivers would only just be considering getting behind the wheel for the first time, Hodencq will be getting behind the wheel of a Lola single-seater for the first time, as he joins championship favourite Fabrizio del Monte in the crack Italian outfit.

Hodencq replaced Roman Rusinov at GP during the last two races in Jerez and Cagliari last season and, although he didn't see the chequered flag in either event, the team got a good impression of him and appreciated his technical maturity. Having then seen improvements, both physical and technical, during last December's group test at Misano, team manager Tancredi Pagiaro had no hesitation in pursuing his signature.
"Maxime has talent," Pagiaro said, no doubt recalling that the Belgian had not known Misano before the test but still managed to constantly lower his lap times on used tyres, "He learns fast and wants to do well. Maxime knows he shouldn't be in a hurry, though - he's only 17 and he has time to grow up.
"In this category, you need to be in top-top shape and, with the help of our advice, he has worked on his physical condition during the winter months. A difficult season awaits him, but I hope it will be full of success."
Next Tuesday and Wednesday [30-31 March], Hodencq and del Monte will be in action at Vallelunga, where the Superfund series will congregate for a group test.
"I'm very happy to say the least," Hodencq said of his new deal, "Thanks to the team's faith and that of my sponsors, I am able to compete in this important championship. Above all, I'm very glad that I'll be working with such a professional, passionate and competent team. I can't wait to get on the track!"
