Quartet joins Draco test.

Four drivers got track time with reigning Euro 3000 champion Draco Junior Team during the week, with Australian Formula Three star Will Power setting the pace at Misano.

The test was Draco's first with a view to establishing its line-up for 2005, with sometime FIA F3000 backmarker Olivier Tielemans joining FBMW/F3 rookie Timo Lienemann and 19-year-old Alessandro Bonetti, who stepped up from Formula Renault. Italian pop star Max Gazze also got a brief three-lap run ahead of his scheduled appearance at next month's Bologna Motor Show sprint event.

"The test has been satisfactory, aided by the fine weather, and we did some good work," finance director Nadia Morini commented, "Max took part in this test to try his seat before the next test, which is due at Magione on 1 December.. I want to say that I saw a driver in action, not a singer. He's a intelligent and sensitive person, and he's very keen on motorsport."

Power clocked 1min 21.0secs on his first acquaintance with the Misano Adriatico layout, putting him ahead of Tielemans (1min 22.0secs), Lienemann (1min 22.3secs) and Bonetti (1min 22.4secs). Gazz? ran only three laps and wasn't timed as he got used to the Lola.

Team owner Adriano Morini admitted that times were not important as he was assessing other criteria among the 'serious' quartet.

"The recorded times are only indicative, as I was interested in the drivers' overall behaviour," he revealed, "I'm quite satisfied."

Team manager Manfredi Ravetto also explained that the test was the first of several planned by the Draco operation in the coming months.

"We are pleased with this day's work, but it is too early to talk about possible driver choice," he insisted, "We'll see later on."

Last year's selection procedure led to the inclusion of Nicky Pastorelli in the Draco squad, and the Dutchman rewarded the team's diligence by clinching the Euro 3000 title in dramatic fashion.
