de Ferran crowned with All America selection.

Gil de Ferran's championship season was topped off with a first selection to the premier All-America Auto Racing Team.

The Brazilian, who fought off a stern four-way challenge for the crown, was an almost unanimous choice for one of the twelve places on the fictional 'team', having resurrected the fortunes of Penske and secured the outfit's historic 100th victory mid-season. He also added a closed course speed record and two race wins to the Vanderbilt Cup before the end of the year, and was voted 'Driver of the Year' at the ESPY Awards.
