Kolby to use HANS for rest of year.

After the controversial Champcar race at the Texas Speedway two weeks ago, Kristian Kolby's manager has decided that his driver should use the HANS device for the rest of the Indy Lights season.

Under instruction from Geraldo Rodrigues Jr, Kolby tested the system for the first time at the Milwaukee Oval on Monday, and admitted that, despite some early awkwardness, he quickly became used to it.

"After initial adjustments, I felt no discomfort wearing it" the Dane said, "The neck is the only part of the body which is not protected in today's single seater cars, and the HANS device is the last missing item for a safe driver environment. After his third place finish at the Texas Oval last month, Kolby is now looking forward to the one-mile flat Milwaukee Oval on the 3 June.

"I hope I can extend the lead I have in the rookies championship - and maybe even jump into the top three overall in my first season in USA," he said.
