Gidley leaves hospital.
Target/Chip Ganassi driver Memo Gidley, who was involved in a serious single-car incident on Lap 21 of Sunday's Motorola 220 at Road America, has left hospital with a small fracture in his upper leg.
Gidley, a 31-year-old American from San Rafael, California, was making his seventh start for Chip Ganassi's outfit when he lost control and speared head-on into a bridge at over 140mph, before rolling to a halt in what looked like being a life threatening accident. The CART safety crews had to cut Gidley from the wreckage.

The CART safety crews had to cut Gidley from the wreckage.
According to Dr. Steve Olvey, CART director of medical affairs, Gidley "sustained a small fracture of the non-weight bearing portion of his right femur."
The updated medical condition came following further examination and precautionary x-rays at St. Nicolas Hospital in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Olvey added that Gidley will meet with Dr. Terry Trammell, CART's chief orthopedic consultant, in Indianapolis today (monday) for further evaluation of the injury.
Trammell's examination will assist in determining whether Gidley will be able to compete in the FedEx Championship Series' next event, the Molson Indy on Sunday, on Sept. 2 in Vancouver, Canada.
Gidley debuted with the Target team in Portland as the replacement for rookie Nicolas Minassian and earned a career-best finish of second the following race at Cleveland.
