The second-year CART driver for Sigma Autosport hopes to continue his run of points outside of the United States. Last month, Servia scored points at both European races, Germany and England, and also in Canada (Vancouver). That was part of a five race points scoring streak.
Servia's streak had included back-to-back 5th place finishes at the Molson Indy Vancouver and The American Memorial races. In addition, Servia and the Chicago-based Sigma Autosport have also finished 14 of the 18 races run this season with no mechanical problems contributing the DNF's.
"First off I'm really happy to be here in Australia racing, said Servia. "This is a place I enjoy a lot and I hope to do very well here. It's also great to be here talking after my accident at Laguna Seca. I still haven't seen a videotape of the accident so I really can't say what happened. I only know that I was conscious the whole time, got checked out and okay. I was a little sore from the ride, but I'll be ready to go at Surfer's Paradise."
Servia is second among all Champ Car drivers in laps and miles completed, and he is 18th in points with 40, just two behind Adrian just two behind Adrian Fernandez. Servia, 27, has a total of seven top-10 finishes with Sigma this year.
Practice for Indy 300 begins on Friday, Oct. 26.
