The Honda Indy 300 will feature in a Discovery Channel documentary titled "The Secret of Air Freight" in the US this Friday night.
The program peels back the edges of the amazing enterprise of airfreight for a behind-the-scenes look at the machines, systems and people working to keep our time-definite world connected. The portion of the hour-long documentary that is dedicated to the CART FedEx Championship Series highlights the transportation and logistics expertise provided by FedEx in shipping $US70 million worth of race cars and equipment from the U.S. to Surfers Paradise in Queensland.
The documentary is likely to be aired in Australia later this year. The show follows PacWest Racing Group (now known as PWR Championship Racing) as their Champ Cars and support equipment goes on a 16,000km journey from its base in Indianapolis to its destination on the other side of the world. Honda Indy 300 Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Jones, believes the documentary will provide valuable international exposure.
"I don't think people realise the logistics required to put on the Honda Indy 300," said Jones. "This documentary is fantastic international exposure for our event, sponsors and Queensland.
"This documentary will help us introduce the Honda Indy 300 to whole new audience right around the world."
