British viewers get live CART coverage again.

With only ten weeks to go the UK's fastest race at the Rockingham Motor Speedway, Scotland's Dario Franchitti is looking forward to racing on the streets of Toronto in his bid to take the 2002 CART title. British viewers can catch all the action live on Sunday evening on Sky Sports Extra.

Sky Sports will once again provide its subscribers will live coverage of the CART FedEx Championship Series and complete as-live coverage of the Indy Racing League this Sunday evening.

Sky Sports will once again provide its subscribers will live coverage of the CART FedEx Championship Series and complete as-live coverage of the Indy Racing League this Sunday evening.

The CART FedEx Series' Toronto Molson Indy will be shown live beginning at 6:30pm UK time on Sunday evening on Sky Sports Extra (Channel 404) with the Ameristar Casino 200 IRL event following directly afterwards from the Kansas Speedway.

In the FedEx Series, which visits the UK this September for the second running of the Rockingham 500 at Corby's Rockingham Motor Speedway, Brazilian Cristiano da Matta is the man in form having won the last three races. But Dario Franchitti took his second podium in a row last weekend in Chicago and is currently third in the standings behind da Matta and fellow Brazilian Bruno Junqueira.

"It's great to be going back to Canada," said Franchitti, "Toronto fans are extremely passionate about Champ Car racing and it's always great fun to see the grandstands packed with supporters. I'm particularly lucky in that the crowd gets behind me, there must be a lot of Scots in Toronto.

"Of course we're getting close to the mid-point of the season and all of us at Team KOOL Green are extremely focused on doing well here and moving up in the points," added the former German Touring Car star. "If we can get the car working properly early in the weekend, there's no reason why come race day we shouldn't be on the podium. I know I can win here (Dario won Toronto in 1999 after leading all laps) and I'd like to do it again this weekend."

Dario is currently 31 points behind Da Matta in the drivers championship and just 6 behind second placed Junqueira. With 20 points on offer for a win plus bonuses for fastest times in qualifying and leading the most laps, Franchitti could easily move closer to da Matta on a circuit he knows well.

The 2002 Indy Racing League Championship fight is developing into a three-way fight between Marlboro Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Gil de Ferran and Panther Racing's Sam Hornish Jr.

Castroneves holds a narrow three point lead over de Ferran but defending Series Champion Hornish recorded his third win of the season last time out at Richmond and finished a close second to Eddie Cheever last year at the beautiful Kansas Speedway.

Speeds well over 210mph are expected at the newly built 1.5-mile oval and a sell-out crowd of 80,000 is expected to be on hand to witness the next round of what is becoming an intriguing points tussle.

British viewers will catch every lap of the action directly following the CART race on Sky Sports Extra starting at 9pm UK time.

Here are the transmission times in the UK for Round 8 of the 2002 CART FedEx Championship Series from Toronto Canada.
