Lazier to attempt three-peat at Kentucky.
This weekend Buddy Lazier and Hemelgarn Racing will attempt a feat no other Indy Racing League driver or team has accomplished, a three-peat victory when the dynamic duo returns to the Blue Grass State and the newly repaved 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway to defend their two-time Belterra Casino Indy 300 title August 11.
With the challenge of a three-peat, it will take Lazier and his Coors Light team flexing a bit more muscle and breaking their string of bad luck.

The 2000 Indy Racing League champions have encountered a dry spell, struggling to finish in the top-ten in 2002. A victory would certainly boost spirits, not to mention stretch Lazier's career victories to nine, a league record.
The 1996 Indianapolis 500 winner will be up against tough competition to defend his Kentucky title. Strong practice sessions, a solid qualifying run and a little luck will be the necessary foundation to propel his No. 91 Coors Light/TaeBo/Life Fitness/Delta Faucet/Chevrolet-powered Dallara to the front of the pack and a podium finish.
The Belterra Casino Indy 300 starts at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, August 11. MBNA Pole Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. August 10. Practice sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. August 10 and 9:00 a.m. August 11. ABC and the IMS Radio Network are broadcasting the race live.
The first 15,000 fans to enter Kentucky Speedway for the Sunday, August 11 "Belterra Casino Indy 300" Indy Racing League event will receive one of three bobble heads depicting league drivers Buddy Lazier, Sam Hornish, Jr., and Al Unser, Jr.
