The Bridgestone Presents the 2003 Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford unveiled a new corporate look and company logo on Wednesday.
Aiming to draw on the heritage of the Champ Car name, it is expected that many people will call the series The Champ Car World Series in 2003 as opposed to the BPTCCWSPBF.
As Presenting sponsor and official tyre of the series in 2003, Bridgestone enjoys prominent exposure on the "Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford" emblem introduced by CART President and CEO Christopher R. Pook. What's more, elements of the logo design are synonymous with Bridgestone and its heritage.
"Bridgestone Motorsport worked closely with CART and its associates to develop a logo representative of the Champ Car series and its most ardent supporters," said Al Speyer, Executive Director of Bridgestone Motorsport. "This unique emblem is visually pleasing and defines the excitement and flavour of this demanding series. It provides the level of exposure our company wanted, which is important in our tire marketing efforts. And it offers race fans a quick visual connection between the key players, establishing a solid benchmark for the quality of racing they expect."
Along with the globally recognized Bridgestone brand logo adorning the top of the new emblem, the Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford logo features subtle arrows reminiscent of those on the sidewall of each and every Bridgestone Potenza racing radial that will be used by the Champ Cars in 2003. The addition of the arrows was no coincidence.
"The arrows on the Champ Car World Series logo are symbolic of the way this series is moving forward in conjunction with its partner Bridgestone," Speyer said. "And that's precisely what we are doing together: building on an impressive past but moving ahead to a bright future. We at Bridgestone Motorsport are extremely proud to be a part of this new logo and to be an integral partner in Bridgestone Presents the Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford."
