"We had a terrible qualifying run. We lost fuel pressure on the green-flag lap, so we didn't get a good lap. We'll start dead last. I'll just have to come from the back like I did at Indy. We'll just have to wait and see what happens then. We've got a good racecar. We were second quick during the first practice but just lost fuel pressure for some reason."

MARK TAYLOR (No. 4 Fulmar Panther Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"We know we can go quicker. We just didn't have enough time today to really work things out. It's my first time here. I'm confident I know my way around now. Going into tomorrow, we'll see what happens. I'm very confident the car's going to be working well, and we'll be able to move up through the field. The car has felt good all year. I feel it's going to do well here. It's more of a challenge because we haven't been able to run here before. It took me a while to get into the track. We're working our way through it. Hopefully, it won't be too late by tomorrow to be quick."

ED CARPENTER (No. 14 Futaba/Delphi/A.J. Foyt Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"A hundred feet before I got to the start/finish line on my first lap, the motor started seizing up. It's kind of a bummer. I think we would have put in a quick time, for sure. We came in here really confident, and the car has been perfect. The whole Foyt team has just been great. In order for us to win the championship, we have to win races. Mark Taylor is 55 points ahead. Every time we go out, we're looking to win races."

THIAGO MEDEIROS (No. 36 Genoa Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"I had a bit of a problem with the fuel pressure. We knew qualifying was going to be a problem for us because of the fuel problem. The car looks good for the race. We're pretty well set."

CORY WITHERILL (No. 92 WSA Healthcare Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"I had a pretty good qualifying run, ran a little better than we did in the practice session. With the weather and the wind and everything, it kind of makes it a little different each time you go out there. It's great, especially at a track like this, where you're flat all the way around. The closer you start to the front, the less work you have to do. It's a sprint race to get to the front, so we won't have to work as hard. We'll just have to work hard to fight off the competition. My teammate, Aaron Fike, is also fast, and he wants to get to the front, so we'll have our hands full with him, too."

Did testing here help you today?:
"Not really. When we came here, there were 30-40 mile-an-hour winds, so we didn't learn much except which way the track goes. It did help us a little as far as where the bumps are and where the race line is. I think it will be a pretty close race. With the downforce they have on these cars, it will be a big group of us going around."

JONATHAN URLIN (No. 3 Budget Rent A Car Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"We did not get our setup down right off the bat. Our qualifying run is almost like another practice session for us, just to see how the car is going to react to all the changes we made. For the sessions this morning, our car wasn't good. Now, we're good. Now we just need to hypothesize what's going to happen later on in the race, and that's what we need to dial in. Our goal is to finish every single lap of this season, and that's what we've been doing so far. That's my number-one priority."

JEFF SIMMONS (No. 20 Western Union Speed Team/Duesenberg Dallara/Infiniti/ Firestone):
"It's really great to be on pole here because with Western Union being based in Denver, this is sort of like a home race. When all of them come to the track tomorrow, they're going to be excited to see us up front. The Western Union Speed Team guys did a great job thrashing to get that engine in after the problems we had with the first one this morning. I'm just really happy that we were able to get out there. It's great to be on the pole. You look forward to the race a lot more. It's a lot easier starting up front, obviously. But it's not the race, and we don't get any points or anything for pole, so the big one's tomorrow."

About missing the second practice session):
"We didn't really get any practice time because we had a motor starting to go this morning. Qualifying was the first time that we were on the track after the motor change. The car was really good. The wind died down. It seemed like there wasn't much wind, so the car was almost exactly the way I want it. I had no idea where I was. I came in, and the crew all had long faces, so I didn't know how we had done. I knew it was a good time compared to what we did before. I didn't know until the rest of my crew walked down that we actually were on the pole. We tested here last week. We didn't get a lot of laps in because it rained a lot, but we had a pretty good car so we figured we would be right in there when we got here. Then with the engine problems this morning, we weren't really sure what was going to happen. We just basically stuck with that same setup that we had, and it was perfect for this weather."

MATT BEARDSLEY (No. 12 Alpine Bank/Old Republic Land Title Dallara/Infiniti/ Firestone):
"From how we were doing this morning, I'm pretty shocked. We were fighting for 11th this morning. We couldn't figure out what was going on. They changed the temperature sensor, and it made all the difference in the world. I'm really happy to be fifth. Even though there are only 13 cars here, it is still the fastest guys who are here. I love the track. This is the one place I have the most time at, from having driven Formula Mazda and everything else."

AARON FIKE (No. 91 RFMS/Hemelgarn Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone):
"We had two very consistent laps. I guess my teammate (Cory Witherill) shifted gears between laps, but I kept it in the same gear, and I think we may have lost a couple tenths there. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Hemelgarn Johnson team. The crew did a great job. We got faster as it cooled down, and I'm sure it's equal for everybody. This is probably one of my favourite tracks. I've always had good luck in open-wheel stuff as far as (USAC) Silver Crown and Midget cars."
