Pub or 'Pay-Per-View' for Road America race.

Due to the late addition of the Mario Andretti Grand Prix of Road America onto the 2003 CART Champ Car schedule, the complicated issue of finding a network/cable television slot to carry the race live has meant that the 12th round of the season will only be available on a pay-per-view basis.

Due to the late addition of the Mario Andretti Grand Prix of Road America onto the 2003 CART Champ Car schedule, the complicated issue of finding a network/cable television slot to carry the race live has meant that the 12th round of the season will only be available on a pay-per-view basis.

However, in an effort to make the package more attractive, the race weekend in full will be shown with the latest HDNet high-definition technology and, in further efforts to create extra ways for fans to view the race, bars and clubs across the United States are signing up to screen all the action.

With the Mario Andretti Grand Prix at Road America Presented by Briggs & Stratton being shown exclusively on the cutting-edge HDNet high-definition broadcast network, CART Champ Car World Series fans are formulating plans to enjoy the landmark broadcast from Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on August 3rd.

The 12th round of the 2003 Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford, the Elkhart Lake event is sparking sports bars and eateries to show the HDNet broadcast of the race, setting up viewing parties for Champ Car fans.

As of this week, establishments in a number of states have committed to showing the broadcast with others certain to come on board before next week's race. The list of bars will continue to be updated on the television page of the series official website www.champcarworldseries.com.

HDNet will offer more than 12 hours of live and original programming throughout the weekend at Road America, including extensive coverage on both qualifying days on August 1-2, in addition to all of the action on race day, August 3. The broadcasts will be available through HDNet's cable and satellite distributors, including DIRECTV, DISH network, Charter Communications and other cable affiliates.

While HDNet offered Champ Car coverage last season for the Cleveland and Denver events, using a combination of four high definition cameras and conventional cameras to supplement the high definition pictures, the Road America event will be the first time that an entire race broadcast will be done using high definition cameras.

The CART Champ Car International Broadcast team of Jeremy Shaw and Stephen Cox will provide play-by-play and commentary, with additional on-camera appearances by Mario Andretti during the race.

Local market media that wish to cover the viewing parties at the regional establishments are invited to attend and should contact the local venue that will show the race in advance. Any fans that live in areas that are not serviced by those already committed, should contact their local sports-themed establishments.
