The glitz and glamour surrounding the upcoming Grand Prix Americas will have an intriguing sub-plot as the teams and drivers of the CART Champ Car World Series battle for supremacy on the streets of Miami next weekend.
Taking full advantage of the championship's annual visit to the Florida city, television giant CBS' hit crime drama CSI: Miami will film for a future episode of its highly-rated series in and around the Champ Car circus,. The series, which stars David Caruso, Emily Procter, Rory Cochrane, Adam Rodriguez and Khandi Alexander, will be filming during the entire race week and will create an episode that centres around a murder that takes place at the race track.
The CSI [Crime Scene Investigation] detectives will work with current Champ Car teams and personnel to solve the crime, and will feature footage of the teams and drivers both on and off the track. Several of the teams will have feature roles in the episode, but will not be revealed until next week. The show being shot is scheduled to air in mid-November.
CSI: Miami drew an average viewership of 16.57 million in 2002, was rated 13th among all prime-time television programs and was the highest-rated new drama of the 2002 television season.
