Duracell Pit Lane will be centre of international attention over the four days of the Lexmark Indy 300, as the site of all pit stops during the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge and the Champ Car practice, qualifying and race sessions.
More than 1000 people will also participate in Duracell Pit Lane walks during the Event providing a close-up opportunity to see arguably the most important part of the race track.
Duracell Pit Lane also houses the Champ Car team garages where team mechanics and technicians work around the clock to ensure the best preparation for their cars and drivers.
Gillette is also the naming rights sponsor of round 11 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series held at the Lexmark Indy 300 - known as the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge.
This will be the second year that the V8 Supercar drivers will be vying for crucial championship points on the Gold Coast. Pressure will be on V8 Supercar drivers including Marcos Ambrose and Russell Ingall for Ford, and Mark Skaife, Greg Murphy and Jason Bright for Holden, to secure the valuable points with only three rounds to go.
The Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge will feature two 100km races with the first race on Saturday October 22 and the second on Sunday October 23. Practice and qualifying sessions will also be held on the Thursday and Friday.
To support the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge, two safety cars have been sponsored by Gillette and Duracell and will be run in conjunction with the AVESCO safety car.
Lexmark Indy 300 general manager James Ashworth said the addition of Duracell's naming rights to Pit Lane is an invaluable extension of Gillette's sponsorship.
"Gillette has been a wonderful partner of the Lexmark Indy 300 and we gratefully acknowledge its support of Queensland's premier event," said Ashworth. "We welcome the naming right's sponsorship of Duracell for Pit Lane which is always the centre of racing activity over the four days."
Mike Abbott, business manager - Duracell, said the naming rights to Pit Lane was a continuation of Gillette's major support of the Lexmark Indy 300.
"With Duracell we are putting our name on the energy centre of the race - Pit Lane," said Abbott. "We're keen to charge up the place ensuring lots of high voltage motorsport action come race weekend."
Adding to the carnival atmosphere of the Lexmark Indy 300, the Duracell bunny will also be lurking in Duracell Pit Lane with his Duracell bunny girls in tow.
