After many years of having Formula One as his only focus, Verstappen is finally looking elsewhere to take his undoubted talents. "I am ready for it," he tells hos website. "It has been a long time, also for my fans. It has paid off, we have made the first step. The preparation is not optimal but I will show them what I'm worth. I want to compete, so with good lap times I want to convince the team that I am the right man for the job."
Should Verstappen get the seat he will partner Mexican Mario Dominguez who has had a lot of contact with Midland regarding a 2006 Formula One race seat.
