The latest 'drifting' phenomenon will make its second appearance of the year as a support event for the Champ Car World Series in San Jose.
After making what will be a hotly anticipated debut in Long Beach next month, Formula D's premiere drifters will showcase their talents on all three days of the July 29th-31st San Jose Grand Prix weekend.
The top Formula D drifters will take to the streets Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the San Jose Grand Prix for full-circuit choreographed, precision tandem and multi car drift exhibitions. Sunday's drifting will immediately precede the running of the inaugural San Jose Grand Prix. On-track drifting action will be complemented by a vendor row and show cars.
"This year Formula D will go to venues that have never seen drifting," said Formula D principal Ryan Sage. The Champ Car events in Long Beach and San Jose will be the crown jewels of the partnership between Champ Car and Formula D."
San Jose Grand Prix Vice President and General Manager, Bob Singleton noted that, "Drifting, which originated in Japan, is the newest addition to the world motorsports scene and we are thrilled to have this very popular form of racing as part of the inaugural San Jose Grand Prix."
