Mi-Jack duo looking to build on Canadian success.

After a competitive weekend in Toronto with drivers Nelson Philippe and Andrew Ranger, Mi-Jack Conquest Racing will race north of the border once again for round seven of the Champ Car World Series in this weekend's West Edmonton Mall Grand Prix in Edmonton.

The weekend marks the first visit to the city for the Champ Car World Series, so Philippe and Ranger will have to get familiar with the circuit in short order as the team will also be working to quickly find the best set-up for 1.96-mile temporary course laid out on the runways of the city's airport.

"Edmonton is going to be a special challenge for the team and for our drivers because we are going to be starting from nothing as far as data, but it will be the same for everyone," said Bachelart. "But we worked through these kinds of challenges during our first season in Champ Car, and now we are an even stronger team and have more depth in our engineering program."

Philippe, who backed up his best qualifying effort of his young Champ Car career with his first top-ten finish of the season in Toronto, wants to keep the momentum up and thinks racing in Canada is a perfect place to do it.

"I love racing in Canada, so I can't wait to race in Edmonton this weekend," said Philippe. "For the teams and drivers, Edmonton is a place where we've never raced before, so we don't have any data, any set-up - so the cleverest will do well. In Toronto, I had my best qualifying result so far in Champ Car and we had a good car in the race, so I am optimistic for Edmonton this weekend."

Ranger had a strong race going in Toronto, where he ran in the top ten all day and was sitting sixth late in the race before he made a small mistake that ended his race early as he accidentally switched off his Ford Cosworth engine. The young Canadian, who scored a podium in just his second Champ Car start, has already shaken off the disappointment and is looking for another good run this weekend as he hopes to retake the lead in the rookie points standings.

Utilising runways from the City Centre Airport in Edmonton, the fourteen-turn track has some characteristics that are similar to the track utilised earlier this season at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport, including the surface type and a notably sharp first turn. That could be good news for Ranger, who qualified fourth for the Cleveland race.

"It will be an interesting circuit for everybody," said Ranger. "I never been there, never seen the track, so it's all new to me. It's always very busy for me to race in Canada, as the team and myself had a huge number of the fans in Toronto, which was a great feeling. I will be doing some appearances for my sponsors as soon as we arrive in Edmonton, and I hope I can put a good show for everyone in the race."

Team co-owner Bachelart is happy to see Champ Car continue to expand its schedule to new markets as his team also continues to build strength through the busy summer season.

"Andrew is still in a very competitive position in the rookie standings, and Nelson finished with a top-ten in Toronto, so we are just working to build on last weekend and continue to improve as a team. It's also exciting for Champ Car to be adding a new market like Edmonton, and the Canadian races are very well run and successful, so we are optimistic about the race weekend."
