The team formerly known as Herdez Competition have taken another big step on the road back to financial stability with news that long-time motorsports backers Liqui Moly have joined the team as associate backers.

Run by former Pacific F1 team boss Keith Wiggins, HVM Inc are rapidly becoming Europe's Champ Car team, starting the season with two Scandinavian drivers and carrying some sizeable Eurosport decals. Although Denmark's Ronnie Bremer has since been replaced in the teams line-up, the addition of European based firm Liqui Moly to the car of Sweden's Bjorn Wirdheim provides a major boost for the team and is a positive deal for a series trying to regain its global impact.

The German based car care company that specializes in lube oils and additives were major sponsors back in the Group C era of sportscar racing in the 1980's and the new deal with HVM brings them back onto the worldwide stage of Motorsport sponsorship for the first time in several years.

"I am honored Liqui Moly has chosen to come on board and support my Champ Car efforts. Liqui Moly has a long history of supporting motorsports and is a respected company in my home country of Sweden and throughout Europe," says Wirdheim, who currently runs 15th in the overall Champ Car standings. "Champ Car offers them a massive worldwide audience as they grow their brand and I look forward to representing them to the best of my ability every step of the way."

HVM owner and managing director, Keith Wiggins commented, "We are delighted to start this association with Liqui Moly. They are well known in Europe and have recently entered the American market. In 2005 we will be working with them on their range of additive products and are already discussing with them a wider programme for 2006 involving both additives and oil products and support for their US distribution.

"It is wonderful to see companies like Liqui Moly following the European drivers into the Champ Car Series."
