"I'm excited to be out at California Speedway for the Indy Racing League season finale," Hawk said. "Having our Grand Jam out at the IndyCar Series race will be an incredible experience for skateboarding, Action Sports and race fans."
As the most dominant figure in skateboarding history, Hawk was ranked as the No. 1 vertical skateboarder in the world by the National Skateboard Association for 13 consecutive years (1984-1996) and continued winning contests worldwide until he retired from competition in 1999.
"That should be very cool having the Tony Hawk show at California Speedway with the IndyCars," said Buddy Rice, 2004 Indianapolis 500 champion. "I have been into the extreme sports for a long time and have followed Tony's skateboard career. He is a legend in the sport. I still have many friends who compete in extreme sports, and I go to the X Games every year. I think the racing fans will enjoy Tony's show. I hope his fans will enjoy the IndyCar Series) action that day too. I know the racing will be good."
