Legge in awe of team support.

British Champ Car rookie Katherine Legge says that she is continually surprised by the support shown by her PKV Racing crew as she prepares for the second leg of her first back-to-back Champ Car race weekends in Monterrey.

Despite her PKV Racing team making all the pre-Houston headlines because of departures, reshufflings, and rumours of unrest, Crash.Net columnist Legge was full of praise for the crew of her #20 Bell Micro backed Lola after a rough weekend in Houston.

"The crew has done an awesome job the first two races," says Legge, whose mechanics had a real workout on Saturday in Houston after a pre-race warm-up brush with the wall was followed by a rather rude assault by Legge's fellow British rookie Dan Clarke in the race. "They constantly amaze me with their skill, dedication and support. We have made a lot of progress, we just ran into some bad luck in Houston."

Despite the frustration at being taken out of contention by a lapped car in Houston, Legge's crew repaired the damage to the rear wing of her #20 Lola and returned her to the race, albeit 15 laps down.

Partly as a show of support for their driver and partly to give Legge as much in-race experience as possible, the extra laps run at the end of the Houston race not only gained her several potentially valuable championship points but could serve Legge well in the hot, sultry surroundings of Monterrey this weekend where driver fitness will once again be at a premium.

"After Houston I am going to Mexico so I will stay acclimatised to the heat," added Legge, who announced no problems after a bone-shaking weekend on one of the bumpiest tracks ever visited by the Champ Car Series. "I raced in Monterrey last year, so I know the track, but running a Champ Car is different. I know I still have a lot to learn, but we are working hard to make it all come together in Monterrey."
