Actor Dempsey to 'start' in Texas.

Actor and race fan turned active driver Patrick Dempsey, star of the hit ABC television show Grey's Anatomy, will give the command to start the engines for Saturday night's 10th annual running of the Bombardier Learjet 500k.

Dempsey starred in the 1980s nostalgia film classics Can't Buy Me Love and Loverboy and now spends much of his time away from the set focusing on his Vision Racing IndyCar Series team that he co-owns with IRL president Tony George and his wife Laura.

In addition, Dempsey has attended the Skip Barber and Panoz Racing schools and drives in the Grand Am Cup Class sports car racing with Hypersport.
