IPS: Klein to test AGR IndyCar Series car.

IRL Indy Pro Series driver Jonathan Klein will test an Andretti Green Racing's IndyCar Series car on July 10 at The Milwaukee Mile.

Klein will be the second Indy Pro Series driver to take advantage of the Indy Racing League programme allowing Indy Pro Series drivers to receive IndyCar Series testing time. Andretti Green Racing team-mate Jaime Camara was the first driver to take advantage of the programme when he tested an IndyCar Series car at Nashville Superspeedway last month.

Andretti Green Racing team-mate Jaime Camara was the first driver to take advantage of the programme when he tested an IndyCar Series car at Nashville Superspeedway last month.

"This will be my first time in an IndyCar, so I'm excited, for sure," the 19-year-old said. "We're just going to go through a conservative plan. I'm only going to do what they ask me to do, start learning, gain experience and just have fun. I never figured I'd get to drive an IndyCar this soon. This is obviously a really good thing and a positive step."

Klein, who ranks third in the Indy Pro Series standings this year, will share time with Klein Tools/Canadian Club driver Dario Franchitti in an Andretti Green Racing Honda-powered Dallara on Monday. Andretti Green rookie Marco Andretti will also test the #26 NYSE Group Dallara/Honda/Firestone at Milwaukee.

"I'm looking forward to the horsepower, although Milwaukee won't be the best place to feel that because it is such a tight track," Klein added. "We'll spend most of our effort tuning on the car's setup and balance. But, I like running at Milwaukee. It's a fun racetrack. I like the small ovals because you have to drive the car. Small ovals are a great equaliser."
