RuSPORT has confirmed that it will continue to run a single car in the latest round of the Champ Car World Series at Road America, despite rumours that Dario Franchitti was to be brought in for the final three rounds of the season.

Franchitti, whose contract with the Andretti Green Racing IRL squad ended following the season finale at Chicagoland, was anticipated to fill the seat vacated by Cristiano da Matta following his accident during testing at Road America last month but team boss Jeremy Dale confirmed that the #10 entry will again sit on the sidelines for the final American race of the season.

"After investigating all of our viable options, we have concluded that it is in the best interest of RuSPORT to only compete with one car at Road America," he said. "This was a very difficult decision, but we believe it was the correct one.

"We will continue to focus on Cristiano da Matta's recovery, the da Matta family, and on our efforts to help Justin Wilson win as many races as possible for the remainder of the 2006 season."

As was the case in both Denver and Montreal, the focus of the RuSPORT team will now be on Justin Wilson, who currently lies equal second in the championship standings with Forsythe Championship Racing driver AJ Allmendinger.
