Mystery flip for #5 Audi?

Rumours that have circulated at Le Mans about the N.5 Audi R8, the Audi Sport Japan Team Goh car of Ara/Dalmas/Katoh, having had a huge accident on Wednesday night appear to be firming up. Though it somehow amazingly escaped the notice of the assembled media at the time, it now seems that while four-times winner Yannick Dalmas was at the wheel the car performed a flip and landed back on its wheels, the incident causing substantial damage.

Audi have so far refused to confirm the event, motorsport chief Dr. Ulrich going as far as denying it when asked in an interview, but the details began to emerge when a driver who had been in a car behind Dalmas reported what he had seen. Dalmas is also reported to have admitted - off the record - that the car took off.

There was certainly some major work carried out on the car between sessions, and it only emerged to do three laps in the hands of Seiji Ara on Thursday.
