Team West-Tec will look to make the move up to the sportscar ladder in 2010 after confirming an entry into the new Formula Le Mans Series for the 2009 season.

The team, which will also run cars in Formula Three this year, has become the latest team to sign up for the Formula Le Mans Series (See Here), which will run alongside the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans itself this year.

The decision to enter the series was taken with a number of team members having past experience of working with LMP2 machinery and team joint principal Gavin Wills revealed that an LMP2 entry was the aim for 2010, with the current global economic situation having ended hopes of making the step this year.

"I was fortunate enough to lead the engineering on the Team Essex Porsche RS Spyder last year," he said. "We actually hoped to be able to run that car under own our banner this year, but those plans foundered with the economical problems of the world today.

"However, we are delighted to be involved in the new Formula Le Mans initiative. We will be looking to win in 2009, before hopefully progressing back to LMP2 proper next year, preferably with the winning drivers from Formula Le Mans in 2009."
