Vd Laar Yamaha Team will have three riders.

After years of concentrating in the Netherlands, Peter van de Laar is participating with three riders in the World Championship this season. Next to these three riders the team will have seven National riders.

GP-riders, Jan van Hastenberg, Erwin Robins and Oscar Vromans, did score points last season in the World Championship, which gives hope for 2002. "All riders have been riding just a few GP's last season due to several reasons. In spite of those reasons they all managed to score points," says the car merchant.

In the 125cc class we will see Van Hastenberg who in 2000 and 2001 did score points in Valkenswaard. Last season was disappointing for the rider from Zijtaart (near Veghel) when he got injured on his shoulder.

"During the first race of the Dutch Open Championship I crashed and fell on my right shoulder. Several nerves got damaged and the season of 2001 came to an end," says the youngest rider of the team.

Erwin Robins from Helmond (near Eindhoven) just missed the title in the combined 250cc/500cc class. "When you get that close of course you want to win, but second is not bad. I do have to admit that this tasted for more and that only the title will satisfy me now," the 23 year-old confident butcher told us.

After two years absence Oscar Vromans returns to team Van de Laar. Behind Robins Vromans got third in the Dutch Open and he got a good 10th place in the World Championship race in Lierop. "I rode well in the race for the World Championship in Lierop, I was even riding in 7th place for a while," tells the rider from Boxtel (near Den Bosch). "The race in Valkenswaard this year will be very important. If you ride well there it will be easier for the rest of the year."

The 10th of March the riders will start for the Dutch Open Championship in Gemert. The World Championship will start the 24th of March in Valkenswaard, Holland this year.
